This document is our Privacy Policy.  It explains how we collect data from you when you visit our website, what we do with it, how long we keep it and your rights in relation to the data you have provided to us. We will provide details of how you can unsubscribe from Aluna Rum communications or ask for your data to be deleted.

In this document we have tried to avoid using legal language and technical jargon.   We have also provided plain English summaries of some sections to make the information easier to digest.

We value your privacy and we are committed to meeting the requirements of data protection legislation.  We invite you to take the time to read this policy carefully as we want you to be confident that the way Aluna Rum handles your data is completely transparent, fair and reasonable.

1) Aluna Rum – the Data Controller that looks after your data

Data protection law asks every company to make it clear who is responsible for looking after your personal data, so here are our details:

The Website www.alunacoconut.com is owned and operated by Cloudbreak Spirits Limited ("We", "Aluna Rum", "Us").  We are registered in England and Wales under company number 07742282 and have our registered office at 2 Castle Business Village, Station Road, Hampton, England, TW12 2BX.

Cloudbreak Spirits Limited is the data controller of the data collected from you.
 

2) Our legal basis for collecting and processing your data

At Aluna Rum we collect and process your data on the basis that we clearly set out how we are going to collect and use your data in this privacy policy, and that you consent to such collection and processing when you register with us.

3) What is ‘personal data’?

Personal data is any information which personally identifies you.  This might include your name or email address.

4) How Aluna Rum gathers personal data

The main places that we gather personal data are:

- When you subscribe to our email newsletter on this website:  www.alunacoconut.com (“the Website”);

Another situation in which we gather personal data, that you may be less aware of, is:

5) Shopify: our online e-commerce platform

Our store is hosted on Shopify and our online payments are handled by Shopify. They provide us with the online e-commerce platform that allows us to sell our products and services to you.

6) Protecting children

Our sites and apps are meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children. 7) Data we need to send you personal emails

At Aluna Rum we send emails to you with information about company and products.  To do this we ask you to tell us your:

- name
- email address
- consent to receiving communications from us

Data that helps us to measure the interest and response to our emails

At Aluna Rum we want to understand whether you are opening our emails, and, where relevant, clicking on links within the emails that take them to our website.  We do this because we want to learn which emails you find interesting and engaging.  We also want to be able to identify people who have stopped opening emails for a period of time, so that we can try and tempt them to start engaging with us again or delete them from our database.

Data we need to retain to answer or resolve an enquiry or complaint

If you contact us with a complaint or enquiry we may keep a record of that correspondence to ensure that we can deal with it effectively.

Any other information which you may provide to us when using the Website

In future we may host competitions on our website or special offers, either from Aluna Rum or in collaboration with trusted third party commercial partners.  In such circumstances we will make it clear why we are asking for personal data and refer you to our privacy policy or that of the third-party organisation.


8) Collection of website data

Like many other organisations with a website we use technology to collect and track data on people browsing the website.  We do this because we want to know the answers to questions like the following:

- What type of device they use (e.g. desktop computer or mobile phone) and the internet browser they are using?  (This technical information is useful to check that the web pages we have designed appear correctly on their device.)

- Which pages are they visiting and for how long?

How we collect website data

Specific information that we collect from people browsing the site

With regard to each of your visits to the website we may automatically collect the following information:

We have appropriate security measures in place to prevent personal information from being accidentally lost or used or accessed in an unauthorised way. Aluna Rum will delete your data if your behaviour indicates that you are no longer interested e.g. if you stop interacting with our emails or website for a period of 12 months.

12) Who will see your data

Aluna Rum values your privacy and will only share your data with other parties in very specific and limited circumstances.  These are explained in this section:

We will only share your data with third parties for competition purposes. If we are sending out the prize, we will share the information with Royal Mail or FedEx and with a trusted commercial partner if they sending out a competition prize. We will only share your first name, last name and address.

We will share personal information with law enforcement or other authorities if required by applicable law.

We may disclose your personal information to third parties if some unusual and very specific circumstances apply:

As with any private company, should the company be bought or acquired, or sell off part of its assets, then this could cause your data to be disclosed to the new company owner.  Likewise, should the law require us to disclose or share your personal data then we would be obliged to do this.  These unusual circumstances are described in more detail below:

i)             The Aluna Rum customer database is part of the assets of the company. In the event that we sell or buy any business or assets, we may disclose your personal data to the prospective seller or buyer of such business or assets;

ii)            If Aluna Rum or substantially all of its assets are acquired by a third party, we may disclose personal data held about our customers, as these will be one of the transferred assets;

- Require us to correct any mistakes in your information which we hold

- Receive the personal information concerning you which you have provided to us, in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format and have the right to transmit those data to a third party in certain situations

Aluna Rum uses personal data to send subscribers emails with news or offers that we think could be relevant to you.
